Indian Wedding Tours

About Us

We bring a small group of travellers into a real Indian wedding, as guests of the family rather than spectators, and take care of everything around it.

Why a wedding

An Indian wedding is not one evening. It runs over several days: the haldi, the mehndi, music late into the night, the procession through the streets, and the vows taken around the sacred fire. Whole families travel for it, and a village or a neighbourhood joins in.

For a traveller, there is no closer way to see how India actually lives: its food, its music, its rituals and its hospitality, all at once and all for real. You can visit a hundred monuments and never see what a single wedding shows you.

A way of travelling that is catching on

More and more travellers are looking for exactly this, and Indian wedding experiences have been showing up in the news and in travellers' stories from all over the country. Many of them offer an evening at a stranger's celebration. We set out to do something fuller and more careful.

How we do it

  • One wedding at a time. Each journey is built around a single family's wedding, on its own dates. Nothing is staged, and there is no fixed season.
  • Guests, not an audience. The family chooses to welcome you, and we keep each group small so that you are part of the celebration rather than watching it.
  • Every day arranged. From the moment you arrive to the day we see you off: your rooms, your meals, every car and every ceremony.
  • People beside you. An English-speaking journey manager, a translator at every ceremony, and a driver. A photographer covers each ceremony, and every photograph you appear in is yours.
  • Prepared, not lost. We tell you what to expect at each ritual and how to take part, and before you travel, what clothes to bring, so you can join in with confidence and with respect.

Where

Our journeys take place in Madhya Pradesh, in the heart of India, beginning with Nimad along the Narmada river: a region of fields, temples and small towns that most visitors to India never reach. We are based here ourselves, close to the families and places our journeys visit.
